Notjustmoreidlechatter seizes upon the current cultural and scientific fascination with mindfulness by embodying the process of witnessing the mind and physicalizing the impulse of thought into bodily movement. Five studies of this uniquely-human process will result in an evening-length dance illustrating the experience of emotional reaction through physical impulse, the allure of chasing obsession down the rabbit hole, and bearing witness to the chatter of the ever-swinging "monkey mind." Dancers follow a thought through its unpredictable twists and turns, endlessly latching onto momentary reactions and gathering powerful cognitive responses.
The mechanics of the mind are something all humans have in common. Mental chatter is a universal experience of being alive, no matter where we come from, what we look like, or who we are trying to become. Notjustmoreidlechatter represents the undeniable thread of our shared human experience that can tie us together, cultivate empathy and compassion, and inspire us to remain kind and humble.
